Tending to grief is something that is being rediscovered in the mycelium of humanity. It's importance begging to be prioritised. 'Hear me', 'Uncover me', 'Let me be seen', is what I hear when grief is moving through me.
This weave resembles the grief linked with the of death of someone very close. During it's creation I was bringing through grief for the loss of children, for the loss of partnership, for the loss of being a mother in a physical sense, the tears flowed and continued flowing.
The patterns were made with anger, with sorrow, with acceptance and with respect and reverence foe death. For endings.
I spiralled down just as we do in deep grief, then I'd spiral back up for breath and a reminder that, 'I am alive', and the cycle would continue.
This weave resembles an honouring of all that grief is, the beauty, the messy, the love, the pain.
Made with yarn made on the spinning wheel by a good friend of mine. It's magic is potent. It's the thread of the sheep held on a land with rich story. They are part of this medicine.
Approx. 20cm in diameter.
